To the friend who messaged me here to say that all children need a mother and a father to be okay,

I love you. You have not done the work to heal, or found the power of community to know. Powerful people - people who know who they are - do not feel the need to police the right others have to simply exist. Your need to anchor yourself in something that is fixed, to the architecture of sameness, is not mind to unbuild. You CAN divest from the toxicity of our culture. But for now, you simply represent a past version of me, self-hating and hiding from what is real; and so I give your pain back to you, because it does not belong to me.
